Having been involved in science and medicine my whole working life, I became interested in the body's natural healing process so, in 2015 I qualified as a reflexologist (with Inspira Academy in Wales) and in 2018 I qualified in holistic massage therapy. (at Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork).
I use holistic bodywork techniques either on their own or in combination.
The Covid pandemic was a stressful time for everyone and I began to look for a way to reduce the stress I encountered while working in the NHS.
I found equine assisted therapy (Red Horse Foundation, Stroud) and my childhood love of horses was rekindled.
(see redhorsefoundation.org)
During my sessions with the therapy horses, I learned about horses by watching their relationships with each other and how they interacted with humans.
Their sensitivity to their environment enables them to be receptive to bodywork.
Wanting to learn about how horses behaved and interacted in their natural environment, in 2023 I went to Canada to watch and photograph wild horses (Alberta Wildies), with a world renowned equine photographer and wild horse advocate Sandy Sharkey.
Also in 2023 I went on a retreat in Virginia, USA, hosted and run by Deborah Draves-Legg (Eponicity: Transformational Coaching) an inspired and ground-breaking coach who is assisted in her work by six beautiful, kind and wise horses. The horse in the photo is called Cowboy, a great teacher.
Combining my human massage experience with my love of horses, I decided to train in equine massage therapy and now love giving massage to horses as well as people. My equine massage training was undertaken in Worcestershire with Equine Massage Therapy UK, director Andrea Pole.
